Scottish Premier League
This weekend Rangers clinched the title at long last. It has been a foregone conclusion for many weeks now, but they have tripped and stumbled their way to the title. It has been a poor season in Scotland with a poor Rangers side the best of a bad lot. Celtic let everyone down this season, especially Tony Mowbry who was sacked earlier this year. I have found it very difficult to get enthused by the Scottish game this season, and to be honest for many seasons. The Scottish game needs a total overhaul, starting at the bottom. We need league reconstruction, and a reduction in the number of games played. Meeting teams 4 times a season is not good for anyone. There used to be an argument that the smaller clubs got more revenue from Rangers and Celtic visiting twice a season, but this is no longer true. The crowds have dwindled because of a combination of high ticket prices, prima donna players, TV and really poor football played. Our standing in European football and international football is rapidly decreasing and if nothing is done soon the Scottish game will be in the wilderness and the international side will never play in the world cup again. A once great football nation is looking very weary
