Scotland Forever

Scotland Forever

Saturday, 11 September 2010

25 years ago on the 10 September 1985, Scottish Football lost one of its greatest sons. Former Celtic and Scotland manager Jock Stein, while managing Scotland in their final qualifier for Mexico 86 had a heart attack at the final whistle and tragically passed away. The game had been full of tension and Sootland had been trailing 1.v.0 to Wales. We needed at least a draw to allow us a place in the play offs. With 7 minutes to play Big Jock made a vital substitution taking off Gordon Strachan and replacing him with Davie Cooper. It was a master decision because Scotland were awarded a penalty kick which in the most incredible pressure scored to give Big Jock and Scotland the draw that they most dearly wished for. The tension was too great for the Big Man and on the final whistle Big Jock Collapsed and died.

Big Jock was one of the greatest Managers to have graced the scottish game and left a big hole in which to fill.

To anyone with Scottish football in their soul Jock Stein was and always will be a legend. We all miss him whether we are Celtic, Rangers or any other Clubs supporters.

Mr Stein we miss you, and Scottish Football misses you. Rest in Peace Big Man
